Jennifer Quinones was appointed as the Deputy Inspector General for the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Inspector General in July 2020. In this role, Ms. Quinones provides advice to the Inspector General, assists in managing day-to-day operations, and provides direction for the OIG's oversight of DOE programs through audits, inspections, and investigations.
Ms. Quinones joined the Inspector General’s Office in December 2017, where she began as a multifunctional leader in the Office of Audits and Inspections prior to becoming the Assistant Inspector General for Audits. Her experience spans two decades of service in audit execution, audit team management, technical guidance, audit policy development, and agency-level strategic planning and operations.
In 1999, Ms. Quinones began her Federal career with the Defense Con-tract Audit Agency (DCAA) as an auditor. In her 18 years with the agency, she executed the full spectrum of audit types in DCAA’s contract audit portfolio and steadily progressed into various supervisory and management positions. In 2008, she joined DCAA’s Policy and Plans Directorate at Headquarters, gained expertise across policy departments, and then served as Deputy Assistant Director for Policy. In this capacity, she was responsible for the creation of audit policy and guidance for DCAA’s workforce of roughly 5,000 auditors.
Ms. Quinones, a licensed CPA in the state of Virginia, received her BS in Accounting from Mary Washington College, Fredericksburg, VA, and her MS in Administration from Central Michigan University. She is also a graduate of both the Federal Executive Institute’s marquee, in-residence leadership program, “Leadership for a Democratic Society,” as well as the Director’s Fellowship Program in Management. Ms. Quinones has received numerous awards throughout her tenure in the federal government, including DCAA’s highly competitive William B. Petty Award for Management Excellence.
